Starting Point: Cluj

  Our journey begins at 09:00 at the KFC, Piata Unirii in Cluj-Napoca, where we’ll set off for an unforgettable adventure through the historical and cultural heart of Transylvania.

1. Râmeț Monastery

      Our first destination takes us to the quaint village of Râmeț, known for its 13th-century monastery, one of the oldest and most significant in Romania. As we approach the Râmeț Monastery, nestled within lush greenery and steeped in history, you’ll be transported back in time. We’ll take a walk through the church museum, showcasing ancient frescoes, and enjoy the peaceful natural surroundings that offer a serene atmosphere for reflection.

    This spiritual landmark played an important role in the religious life of the region and is a must-see for history and culture enthusiasts.

2. Blaj: is a historic town in Alba County, Romania, located in the scenic Mureș Valley. It played a significant role in the Romanian national movement during the 18th and 19th centuries, particularly in the development of the Romanian Greek-Catholic Church, often referred to as the “Rome of the Romanian Greek-Catholics.”

Main Attractions:

• Greek-Catholic Cathedral: A Baroque-style cathedral built in the late 18th century, symbolizing the town's religious and cultural identity
• Blaj Old Town: Charming streets with historic buildings reflecting its cultural heritage.

3. Alba Iulia - The Heart of Romania's Unit

     Alba Iulia is a city of profound historical significance, particularly known for being the symbol of Romania’s unity. It played a crucial role in the formation of modern Romania and holds a special place in Romanian national consciousness.

• Alba Iulia Fortress (Citadel): The Alba Iulia Fortress, also known as the Vauban-style citadel, is the most important landmark in the city and one of the largest fortresses in Romania.
• Union Hall (Sala Unirii:  The Union Hall is the site of the historic 1918 Assembly where the Great Union of Romania was proclaimed.
• Orthodox Unification Cathedral : This neo-Byzantine cathedral was built in the early 20th century to commemorate the unification of Transylvania with Romania in 1918. It stands as a tribute to the unification of Romania after World War I and the crowning of King Ferdinand and Queen Mary
• The Roman Catholic Cathedral of St. Michael: is a stunning Gothic architectural marvel that dates back to the 13th century. This iconic church is one of Romania's oldest and most significant religious buildings.

    In the evening, enjoy the drive back to Cluj Napoca, having explored the cultural and historical gems of Rameti, Blaj, and Alba Iulia.
