The Clock Tower is the landmark of Sighisoara and in the past represented the main gate into the citadel and housed the town's council. It was built in the second half of the 14th century and expanded to 64m height in the 16th century. In the 17th century, a two-plate clock, with figurines carved from linden wood, was set at the top of the tower, with one dial looking over the Lower Town and the other facing the citadel. Nowadays the tower can be spoted from almost every corner of the city and houses the beautiful history museum.
