Three minivan lines connect Sibiu, Sighișoara and Brașov with the fortified Saxon villages of the Transylvanian Highlands. Hop on at any stop, visit a village or church, hop back on when you're ready. By reservation, so the seat is yours.
Each line runs as a loop with the same start & end city. You can board at any stop along the way, visit a village or church, and rejoin the next bus. Sighișoara is the junction where all three lines meet.
UNESCO Bus is reservation-driven — the line runs only when there are bookings, so a seat is always yours when you're on board. Book at least 10 hours before departure.
Same fare on all three lines. Pay once, hop on and off as often as you want for 24 or 48 hours. Reservations are made online before departure.
UNESCO Bus connects the medieval cities of Sibiu, Sighișoara and Brașov with the network of UNESCO-listed Saxon fortified churches scattered across the Transylvanian Highlands. Until now, reaching villages like Viscri, Biertan or Saschiz without a rental car was practically impossible.
Built as a sustainable mobility solution for Transylvania's rural heritage corridor, the service launched in March 2025 — the first project of its kind in Romania. Three colour-coded lines run as loops on a reservation-driven schedule, so the bus only operates when travellers actually need it.
UNESCO Bus is operated by Carpathian Travel Center in partnership with the Sibiu County Tourism Association (Visit Sibiu County) and supported by the Colinele Transilvaniei ecotourism destination.
Romania's destination management company based in Sibiu. Owns the fleet, runs the service, manages reservations and on-the-ground operations.
