⬤ About the project

The first rural hop-on / hop-off in Romania.

UNESCO Bus connects the medieval cities of Sibiu, Sighișoara and Brașov with the network of UNESCO-listed Saxon fortified churches scattered across the Transylvanian Highlands. Until now, reaching villages like Viscri, Biertan or Saschiz without a rental car was practically impossible.

Built as a sustainable mobility solution for Transylvania's rural heritage corridor, the service launched in March 2025 — the first project of its kind in Romania. Three colour-coded lines run as loops on a reservation-driven schedule, so the bus only operates when travellers actually need it.

⬤ Built in partnership

A project by three organisations.

UNESCO Bus is operated by Carpathian Travel Center in partnership with the Sibiu County Tourism Association (Visit Sibiu County) and supported by the Colinele Transilvaniei ecotourism destination.

⬤ Ready to ride

Book your seat — at least 10 hours ahead.

Reservations open online for the full 2026 season. The line you booked runs because you booked it — that's how the schedule works. Pick your line, pick your day, see Transylvania from the inside.
