The Synagogue was built between 1899-1901 and it is one of the most beautiful synagogues in Romania as it was renovated recently, at the celebration of 100 years of existence in 2001. The jewish people have lived in Brasov since 1807, when a jew received permission to live in the city. The Jewish Community of Brasov was officially founded 19 years later, followed by the first Jewish school in 1864 and the building of the beautiful Synagogue in 1901.
